The Drupal CMS makes it easy for users to update content. Drupal uses a ‘what-you-see-is-what-you-get’ (WYSIWYG) content editing interface that functions in a similar manner to MS Word. We will use this acronym frequently throughout our explanations of the content types, and it is in reference to the content input field (Body) below.
Tip: If you are unfamiliar with any of the icons utilized within the WYSIWYG editor, you can hover your mouse over the icon and wait for a tooltip to appear that describes the icon.

Finding & Editing Pages
The easiest way to edit an existing Page is to navigate to that page on the site while logged in. Once on the Page that you intend to edit, you should see buttons displayed below the Page title. Click on Edit to begin editing the page.
Editing Specific Content Types
You may find that certain content types are not editable in the same way as above, in which case you must access this content by clicking directly on Content in the top Drupal admin toolbar. You will then see a large list of all content created for the website. This list is sortable by clicking on any of the column headings, or you can refine the list by using the Content-Type and Title filters near the top of the page.
For example, to edit information about a particular News item, click on Content in the admin toolbar.
Next, within the top filters click the Content-Type dropdown and select News. Then click Apply to bring up the list of News items existing on the site. Choose the particular item you wish to edit content for by clicking Edit under the Operations heading.
Once you have edited the content as desired, select the Published option to publish, or leave unselected and click Save and Create New Draft.
Mobile Editing
Drupal 9 allows you to edit on your mobile device. We recommend only using mobile editing in scenarios where you may need to make a quick content edit while away from your computer. For example – you are at an event but there is an error in the event information that needs to be corrected.
To edit on your mobile device, log in as usual, as outlined in the Logging Into the CMS page of this guide.
Navigate to the page you wish to edit and click New Draft.
You will then be taken to an editing screen that looks similar to the desktop version.
Once you’ve made your edits, scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save and Publish.
Important Notes
- Always paste text using the Paste as Plain Text button. Do not copy text directly from Word, another website or any other program without doing so – this ensures it is pasted without any existing formatting.
- Limit the formatting of text. Only use H2 (for largest headlines), H3 (for subheadlines), and normal (for everything else) under paragraph format in the text editor.
